CEO at Scaletech
Georg Caspary has 20 years of experience implementing and financing cleantech in over 25 markets worldwide. After initial stints in banking and economic journalism, he led environmental regulatory advisory work at the OECD for 5 years. Subsequently, he spent 12 years at the World Bank, which included working as a Team Lead in a range of sectors including in Peru, Chad, Morocco and Kazakhstan. He also authored the first comprehensive fundraising strategy for the World Bank Environment Department.
Since 2019, Caspary is the CEO of Scaletech GmbH in Potsdam, a company that develops individual strategies to ensure the sustainable market launch of clean technologies. He has also developed and patented products in the energy management space — most recently a software product allowing high-efficiency indoor farms to quantify their emissions reduction from energy management and receive carbon credits.
Caspary has taught widely in graduate schools (including for five years at Georgetown). His peer-reviewed articles have appeared in journals such as "Energy Economics", "Impact Assessment", "Renewable Energy" and "Global Governance". He has been the recipient of various awards including being named on Germany’s "40 under 40" list and as one of the Atlantic Council’s Emerging Leaders in Energy and Environment. He graduated as a National Merit Scholar in Economics and Philosophy from Oxford and holds advanced degrees from the LSE, Sciences-Po Paris and MIT.
