Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI)
Maria Xylia is a Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) in Sweden. She works with energy systems analysis with a particular focus on the transition to fossil-free solutions for transport and smart grids. Prior to SEI, she worked as a senior energy systems consultant with a focus on energy strategies, as a researcher on energy systems analysis and planning as well as an energy technology consultant with focus on renewable energy installation design.
Xylia has extensive experience with project management and collaboration across various stakeholder groups. She holds a PhD on energy technology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology with a focus on strategic planning for charging infrastructure deployment, a Licentiate from KTH Royal Institute of Technology on energy efficiency policies in hard-to-decarbonise sectors such as industry and transport, an MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and a Dipl. Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Patras.
