We are right now preparing for metaverses in which they claim our avatars will be able to understand each other instantly across language barriers. But what language will the interpretations be based on? Even good machine translation programmes still lack that all-important factor: context. So what do we need to understand to ensure that our avatars command nuanced, context-appropriate language in the metaverse, and how can we prepare for that?

Our expert panel will discuss the whole concept of ethical programming, what ontologies mean and why we could and should be contributing to what might be seen as a cultural revolution.
