Head of “Cinema and Debut” at Bayerischer Rundfunk
Carlos Gerstenhauer is head of the department „Cinema and Debut“ at Bayerischer Rundfunk. He has studied in Hamburg and Madrid. The German-Spaniard began his cinematic activity in the early 1990s in advertising as a director and producer. Since 2016 he has worked as a filmmaker and author for „Bayerischer Rundfunk“ and „ARD“ and he has reported for „kinokino“, „Capriccio“ and „Titel Thesen Temperamente“ from international film festivals and on current film events in magazine articles for 20 years.
His work includes the documentary "DER BERND" about the legendary producer Bernd Eichinger for Constantin, as well as the portrait of the filmmaker HJ Syberberg "DER UNBERECHENBARE".
Since 1996 he is head of the department „Cinema and Debut“ at Bayerischer Rundfunk, responsible for the cinema co-productions, regarding feature and documentary films, as for the cinema-licencing and for kinokino, BR and 3 sats weekly movieshow.
