Deputy Chairman, 20th & 21st Century Art, Christie‘s
Dirk Boll has a background in law. A post-graduate study in Art Management in Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg earned him a Master of Art degree. Combining these, he wrote his Ph.D. thesis on distribution systems for art and the legal framework of the international art market.
He joined Christie's in 1998 in London in the 20th Century Art Department. Following four years as a German Christie's representative based in Stuttgart, he moved to the Zürich office at the end of 2004, and took over as MD of Christie’s International AG, Switzerland. In 2011, he was appointed European MD and moved his office to London. In January 2017, he took over the position of President, Christie’s EMEA. In March 2022, Dirk joined the 20th/21st Century Art cluster in London as Deputy Chairman.
Dirk Boll is also a lecturer at the University of Hamburg on the subject of Art Management and has published several books on various aspects of the art markets.
Dirk is a board member of the Swiss Friends of the Israel Museum, member of the Advisory Board of University of Zürich, member of the Academic Board of Christie’s Education and External Examiner at Kingston University, London.
